Apitherapy

From ancient time onwards human beings had a special relation to honey bees. Honey was the ingredient in many ancient medical preparations. Not only honey but various products of the honey bee was used since ancient times. These honey products include royal jelly pollen, wax and various other products created by honeybees. Ancient Egyptians believed that consumption of honeybee products slowed down the aging process. Even today many believe that consumption of honeybee products slows down aging. This belief originates mainly from the fact that these key nutrients are fed to queen bee (worker bees are fed it only during the first three days of life, but the queen is fed it throughout her development and lifespan). Its highly nutritious composition could be one reason that a queen bee lives for up to five years, while worker bees live only seven weeks, or why she weighs 50 percent more than the workers.
